People say this to me ALL THE TIME!!! They walk up to me, or if we are already in conversation they grab their stomach, or show me a saggy arm, or put their hands on their butts and say "How do I get rid of this?" as they shake whatever body part they are unhappy with. Most of the time I have a hard time not laughing. It's as though people think that there is some magical personal training handbook that tells us all the secrets to targeting specific areas, or maybe the mighty Dumbledore has graced us with a spell so that we can shout: "Lipoextracto!" and BOOM, no more flabby stomach. This comment is also often followed by "I don't mind my arms, or legs, or (insert non-problematic area), just this!" as once again the problem area is shaken or jiggled.
Well folks, I will once again be raining on your imaginary parade. I'll be the one to deliver the bad news, but it's the cross I bear so I deal with it. You CAN"T "just get rid of this," that's not how the body works. You gain weight as a whole, you lose weight as a whole; the areas that you don't like are probably the first place on your body to gain the fat, and the last place it wants to leave. Everyone has these places on their bodies, and some people's are more pronounced than others. However, you can't just tell your body to lose weight on your arms by doing a million curls and triceps, then kick back and think that it's going to work, BECAUSE IT'S NOT! You have to lose the weight just like everyone else, with a good diet, make smart choices, rock some cardio, and be persistent. You'll eventually lose weight, and the last place to lose the weight is the place you're targeting in the first place. That's the way to do it.......... Or liposuction.
