Variety, we all need it, in just about every walk of life. Without variety things get stale, boring, routine. So let's shake things up a bit, shall we!?
First and foremost try to keep a good amount of variety in your diet, while still making smart, healthy choices. Use as many different combinations of these healthy choices that you can think of, and feel free to scower the internet for recipe ideas, look through cook books, magazines, food blogs, whatever you need to keep the ideas flowing. The fact is that if you stay satisfied with your diet, and it remains tasty and keeps you full, you are far less likely to stray over to the dark side of the force to the land of McDonalds, carrot cake, and soda..... So use your skills in the art of variation and remain on the path of your goals.

Workouts: You are going to want to keep variety in your workouts as well. There are a few reasons for this, the obvious one being to avoid boredom. The more you can change up your workouts and routines, the more interesting things will be. You will look forward to a workout where you are doing or trying a few new exercises, or working on something you just recently started to implement. This doesnt mean you need some ground-breaking exercise every 2 weeks like this guy on the right (show-off). It can be as simple as trying to run fast intervals instead of a long jog, or switching to a pure strength program with heavy weight and low reps for a few weeks. Anything different is good, as it also keeps your muscles guessing. If you continue to do the same routine week after week, month after month, your muscles will eventually get a bit complacent and they won't respond with the same enthusiasm they once did So don't make it easy on them, switch it up, pull a fast one, outthink them. After all, they're only muscles.
So keep things interesting, make some changes. Do something different next week from what you did last week, it'll help, I swear!
I LOVE carrot cake.... but I always feel better snacking on some carrots instead. They are sweet, texture(y) and are a great evening snack.
ReplyDeleteConstantly varying your workout is the best. I honestly cant remember the last time I repeated the same routine at the gym. It definitely helps!
